Opening and drawing a set of curtains by hand can cause complications if the windows are too tall. Often pulling a set of curtains half way down the fabric will leave marks over time, and can damage the curtain hooks or even pull the brackets out of the wall. The ideal solution is a corded curtain pole.
Available in wood or metal, corded curtain poles work with a discreet curtain track embedded in a channel on the underside of a curtain pole. Curtain rings are then replaced with track gliders. Crossover arms included with most corded curtain poles allow the fabric to slightly overlap in the centre; this reduces any gaps in the curtains.
Metal corded poles can often be extendable to save the hassle of cutting the pole down to fit a window, and the metal poles are also often better suited to contemporary styled windows. The wooden corded poles work well in traditional homes.
