Wooden Curtain Poles

Wooden curtain poles not only come in every colour of wood stain but also in painted finishes ranging from timeless gold and silver paint to subtle creams and white. The painted pole can also be treated with various finishes such as a crackle finish to give an aged distressed look or antiqued for a unique traditional style finish. Wooden poles are very useful if your interior design scheme calls for swags and tails or drapes, as fabric can be easily stapled or tacked in place on the wood.

Wooden poles come in many diameters and for wide windows a larger diameter pole will be required so over wide spans the pole is not going to bow when the curtain are drawn. Custom made poles can be ordered thicker than normal but would need a large room not to become overwhelming.

Wooden curtain poles unlike metal and plastic curtain tracks, are on view and are therefore as equally important as the curtains. The curtain heading is therefore also on show, so if the pole is a classic wooden pole then the curtain heading should be a traditional pinch pleat or goblet style of heading. If the pole is a contemporary style pole then a tab top or pencil pleat heading would be more relevant.
