Plastic curtain track is available in many shapes and sizes. Some tracks are supplied with their curtain hooks included as part of the glider mechanism and some are customised so you can buy in kit form exactly what you require. Plastic runners and gliders produce a smooth, quiet travel for the curtains on the curtain track.
Plastic curtain track is extremely versatile as plastic can be extruded in to practically any shape or form. The track fixing position can be ceiling or wall fixed. Plastic can be easily bent by hand, so certain types of plastic track can be used as bay window track. It can be forward or reverse bent, easily trimmed, or joined for extra wide windows.
Poles and Blinds do not recommend plastic track for very heavy curtains, but it is suitable for light and medium weight curtains.
These tracks also have a vast array of valance fittings to use if your curtain scheme includes pelmets or valances. They can also be fixed to pelmet boards and the swags and tails or any other form of pelmet can be fixed to the front edge of the pelmet board and the curtains then hang on the track concealed behind the pelmet.
The modern home owner needs to consider home security as part of their home improvements and curtain track is ideally suited to be used with a motorised corded system enabling the curtains to open and close on a time clock.
Plastic curtain track can also be supplied with an overlap set which means that one of the curtains neatly closes in front of the other curtain.
By virtue of the fact that plastic is so light, it is used in applications such as in caravans and boats where space and weight is a major consideration and they can be discreetly hidden behind a small wooden pelmet or valance.
Tracks are not aesthetically attractive so are best used in conjunction with a pelmet or valance.
