Living Room

The art of good interior design is to configure your ideas to fit with your lifestyle particularly in your living room, which is after all the place where you and your family will spend most of their leisure time in the home. It is always a good plan to have a continuity of colour particularly in the living room for any easy living look.

People usually decorate and furnish their homes in a certain style, choosing what they feel is appropriate to a country or city look which of course does not mean that their houses have to be sited in the environment that their particular style portrays. Neutral colours are always the best option for a light and airy decor which can then be embellished with soft furnishings and home accessorise in more potent colours if required.

A traditional living room may mix the odd piece of antique furniture with more comfortable modern upholstery and the window treatments should be graceful. Elegant triple pinch pleat curtains arranged on a stylish wooden or brass curtain pole seems to have upstaged the very ornate detailing of curtains finished with swags and tails, although this type of window treatment will remain timeless in interior decor.

Modern contemporary decor can, without care, become obsessed with space and light, moving away from making your living room that special place in the home where you can particularly feel relaxed, nurtured and protected. Chic stainless steel curtain poles dressed with an eclectic curtain fabric or contemporary metal venetian blinds in one of the stunning colours or metallic finishes will make an ideal window finish for the modern home. Lots of natural plants, the occasional brightly coloured home accessory, pictures and evocative curtain treatments will add spirit and vitality to the room.
