If space allows, then a room dedicated to listening to music or watching television is a great luxury. There will however not be over amounts of households that will have the lavishness of a Media room used purely for that purpose, but there are plenty of ways to integrate the media paraphernalia without it looking too conspicuous.  

The room should be decorated and furnished with comfort as well as with the environmentals in mind.  Blackout blinds or curtains lined with a blackout lining will of course be essential.  If you opt for the blinds, then secondary curtains can also be used to dress the windows even if the curtains are just a simple voile panel,  they will  make more of a statement than only fitting a blind. 

Wooden venetian or Metal Venetian blinds are ideal as a window treatment in a Media bathroom as they will give a good level of daylight control whilst not being affected by the condensation in the room.

If you are going for a colour in the room, then make sure it is warm and welcoming by using colours such as shades of Terracotta.   A combination of neutral colours would always be my choice for a room based around a huge black television screen.  Neutrals can be used to create a comfortable and calming space, also making a great backdrop for a feature factor.  The timeless amalgamation of ebony and ivory is always guaranteed to look stunning.  There is no denying that in a media room there will be black in abundance as the equipment as well as the screen will be black, so it is best to work around the harsh colouring than try to disguise it.

There is no way to camouflage the screen, so it is best to make a feature of it by placing it centrally on the main wall which can then be papered or painted in a striking co-ordinating pattern or colour.
