How to choose the best bay curtain pole for your window?

1. 1. Identify Your Bay Window Shape:

   • 2-sided corner bay or "L" Shaped: Features two flat sections with one bend, typically at 90 degrees. Best options: custom bay pole kit, pre-packed bendable track, or made-to-measure product.
   • 3-sided splayed bay or rectangular: Has a longer flat central section with two shorter sides and two 90-degree or wider bends. Recommended: bay curtain rod kit, individual parts, or made-to-measure pole/track.
   • 5-sided angled bay:Contains five wall sections, with the central section usually longer than the other sides. Choose: 5-sided bay curtain rod kit or made-to-measure product.
   • Continuous curved, bow bay window or more than 5 sides:These complex shapes work best with bay window curtain tracks due to their curved nature. Made-to-measure products offer flexibility for both curtain poles and tracks.

   2. Measure your Windows

   Measuring a bay window is the most important step of the process. To do it correctly, read our How to Measure Bay Window Curtain Poles Guide. Poles and Blinds offer standard bay pole lengths for 3-sided bay windows from 300 to 600 cm or 475cm poles for 5-sided bays. If your measurements do not fit these sizes or you have another bay shape, consider building a custom bay pole kit or using a bendable track.

3. 3. Identify Your Bay Window Pole Type

   There are 3 types of bay poles you can get:

   1. Modular Bay Pole kits. Most common option for a standard-sized bay window. Some DIY knowledge required to install.
   2. Pre-Bent Poles. Easy–to–bend at home, these poles have already installed bendable sections. Great for DIY-beginners.
   3. Pole-Track Hybrid Systems. Combine the decorative appeal of a pole with functionality or a track. Some DIY knowledge is required for correct bending.

   5. Choose the Right Finish

   Chrome or stainless steel are great with modern or minimalist looks. Cool metals create an energizing, contemporary atmosphere and look best in south-facing spaces.

   Brass or antique finishes for a classic touch. Warm metals, such as antiques or spun brass, make spaces feel cozy and traditional. Look exceptionally good on Victorian/Edwardian Bays. They also add benefit to north-facing rooms.
