If you or your family suffer from allergies or asthma, the last thing you should consider for your home decorations are elaborate curtains and furnishings that will harbour dust and mites. Indoor plants look great in the home ? especially in a modern minimal décor ? but they may be a source of mildew. In instances of severe allergies and asthma, the modern trend for wooden or tiled floors is ideal. Also, try to keep upholstered furniture to the minimum.

An attractive way of discreetly filtering the air coming through the window vents or an open window is to fit a floaty pair of voile curtains and leave them permanently pulled across the window acting as a filter. They can then be twinned with a second pair of matching or co-ordinating curtains that are then used as and when required at night.
