Kitchen Curtain Styles

It is best to stay functional when choosing your kitchen curtain styles. To have flamboyant curtain treatments in a practical solution is inappropriate and not in keeping with the function of the room you are designing.

The window treatments in a kitchen can become extremely dirty and so heavy curtains should be avoided as the cooking smells will linger longer, trapped in the fabrics. If you do have curtains in your kitchen it is best to have tie backs or hold backs to keep the curtains out of harms way.

Co-ordinating Interior Styles

The crisp clean lines of eyelet curtains with metal eyelet rings that co-ordinate with a metal curtain track and the door furniture on the kitchen units is always a good choice. Tab top curtains are a smart alternative and look particularly chic if the tabs of the curtains are in a contrasting colour, perhaps matching a coloured wooden pole or using a stained wooden pole that co-ordinates with the kitchen cabinets.

Kitchen Blinds

Window blinds in a kitchen are ideal as they give an air of efficiency in a working area. The style of blind should be simple, not a billowing type of festoon that will collect the grease. The clean lines of a blind and the fact that they leave the window sills clear will make the cleaning of the surfaces easier.

Aluminium venetian blinds or wooden venetian blinds are a good choice in areas that need to be kept scrupulously clean. Poles and Blinds have supplied this style of blind to facilities such as medical centres as well as to private home kitchen interiors as they can be wiped individually therefore, making frequent thorough cleaning possible.

Practical Blind Solutions

Plain roller blinds come in every colour and fabric design imaginable and even though a roller blind is unassuming and takes up very little room in a situation that is often restricted in area, they can still very much create the interior design effect you are looking for with your kitchen planning. Pretty floral roller blinds give a country feel when used in conjunction with stripped pine kitchen units, whereas bold designs with vivid colours will lift plain white or pale coloured kitchen units.

Vertical blinds are very good to use in a design where space is an issue, the vertical lines of the blind give the illusion of height for small areas.

Wooden blinds come in many colours of wood stain and look stunning when matching the colour of the kitchen interior décor and kitchen unit colours.
