  • The holdback height should be about 90 - 100cm from the floor, based on a curtain length of 213cm or 84 inches, and 6 - 10cm in from the edge window recess.
  • For short curtains, with a curtain length based on 140 cm or 55 inches the holdback height should be about 30 - 35cm up from the bottom of the curtain. Again measure in 6 - 10cm from the recess edge to get the final fixing position.

  • If you find they are not working for your particular window get a second person to offer up the holdback to the wall until right proportional height is found, then mark this point with a pencil.

Fitting Tieback Hooks

Fitting tieback hooks will enable you to add rope tassel ties and fabric tiebacks to your curtains, giving a whole new look to your window dressing.

The height of the tie hook and the type of tieback will determine the look of the curtain when draped back.

  • For a floor length curtain, with a length of 213cm or 84 inches, and using a fabric tieback, ties should be approximately 100cm or 39 inches up from the floor.
  • Rope tassel ties fitted at 115cm or 45 inches from the floor.

Fitting Extra Curtain Gliders

As there are many different types of curtain track available, it is advised that you refer to the original fitting instructions for your specific track.

The majority of curtain tracks only require the stop end or track end to be removed, so the gliders can be inserted into the glider channel. If you are adding gliders to a corded track be sure not to twist the track end as twisting the cording will impede or even jam the gliders within the track channel.

Adding Extra Curtain Rings

To add curtain rings to your curtain pole.

  • First take down your curtains as the curtain hooks may need to be re-spaced to accommodate the additional curtain rings.
  • Next remove or loosen the screws that secure the pole to the bracket, only do this for one side of the pole at a time.
  • Remove the finial and add the required amount of new curtain rings, re secure the curtain pole, then rehang your curtains.
