Can Also Be Used For Tab Top Curtains

Tab top curtains have contrasting or matching strips of fabric sewn into the top of the curtains, so again will not require curtain rings. This is a very informal curtain arrangement that makes a fun finish, especially for children's windows. They will not operate as easily as eyelet curtains, as the material tabs will not pass along the pole as well as the eyelets.

How to Choose the Right Eyelet Pole?

1. Measure Your Curtain Eyelets
   • Standard eyelets (around 40mm in diameter): Choose 28mm or 25mm pole diameter
   • Non-Standard Eyelet Sizes: Select a pole diameter at least 10mm smaller than your eyelet size


2. Select the Right Finish

Why Most Eyelet Curtain Rods Are 28mm in Diameter?

Most of our eyelet curtain poles are 28mm in diameter. This is because eyelet curtains usually have internal eyelets or tabs between 38mm (1 1/2") and 40mm (1 9/16") wide. A 28mm pole fits these sizes perfectly, allowing curtains to move smoothly without catching. It's also strong enough to hold medium to heavy curtains without bending or sagging, which is important for both function and appearance.

This standard size makes measuring and choosing the right pole much easier, especially for first-time buyers. It's a size that's widely compatible with most ready-made eyelet curtains available in the UK market. Thus, shop confidently knowing you're making the right choice. However, you can use 25mm diameters for standard eyelets too.

Common Installation Mistakes

Mounting Too Close to Ceiling:

Restricts curtain movement and creates a crowded appearance. The Solution: Use wall-fix brackets positioned at least 10-15cm below the ceiling. This spacing allows curtains to hang naturally while creating the illusion of greater ceiling height. For very low ceilings, consider ceiling-mounted tracks instead (though these don't work with eyelet styles).

Insufficient Support:

Causes sagging on wide windows (add center brackets). The Solution: All eyelet pole kits over 240cm include center brackets as standard. For custom installations, always add center support for spans exceeding 240cm. When in doubt, upgrade to heavy-duty end brackets for extra security.

Choosing Wrong Pole Diameter:

Leads to poor curtain operation or eyelet damage. The Solution: Always match components correctly - 40mm eyelets work perfectly with 28mm and 25mm diameter poles. Remember the golden rule: curtain eyelets should be at least 10mm larger than the pole diameter.

Inadequate Projection from Wall:
