How to Choose a Long Curtain Pole?

1. Measure the Full Width
   • For the best look and smooth operation, your curtain pole should extend 15–20cm on both sides of the window.


2. Choose the Right Diameter for Strength
   • 19mm poles are best suited to lightweight curtains such as nets or voiles. For example, if you’re dressing bifold doors that open onto the back garden and privacy isn’t a concern, a slimmer 19mm pole can provide a neat, minimal finish without unnecessary bulk.
   • 25mm or 28mm diameters are ideal for medium to heavy curtains. This diameter offers excellent everyday strength for most living rooms, bedrooms and patio doors, balancing durability with style.
   • For very heavy, thermal, or blackout curtains we recommend 35mm or over. These are better suited to windows over 5 metres, where added thickness ensures long-term stability.


3. Select a Finish to Suit Your Interior
   • Extra long curtain poles are available in classic wood finishes for traditional homes or sleek chrome, brass or black for modern interiors.

Metal Curtain Poles - extra long

Metal curtain poles are most practical for hanging in large windows as the strength of the metal has an advantage over the wood and are generally better suited to modern interiors. Maximum lengths normally vary depending on the manufacturer and diameter but usually consist of two long lengths joined together with an internal joining piece. The joining point then requires support with a supplied centre bracket.

Galleria long metal poles are available in 300cm, 360cm, 400cm and 480cm in length.

Hallis Hudson long 25mm metal poles are available in 300cm, 400cm, 500cm and 600cm in length.

Cameron Fuller long 32mm metal poles are available in 300cm, 400cm, and 480cm in length.

Wooden Curtain Poles - extra long

All extra long wooden pole sets come with a joining screw allowing two rods of the same length to be fixed together and supported with a supplied centre bracket. The maximum length is six metres, consisting of two 3 metre one piece lengths and see the Rolls Modern Country collection

Hallis Hudson long 35mm or 45mm wooden poles are available in 300cm, 360cm and 420cm in length.

Cameron Fuller 50mm wooden poles are available in 300cm, 360cm, and 480cm in length.

Rolls long 55mm wooden poles are available in 300cm, 360cm, 420cm, 480cm and 600m in length. The longest length available across wooden poles is 6 meters.

Ideal for traditional styled interiors - long wooden poles are usually over 35mm (1 3/8") thick to cope with the increased weight due to the large span. This also enables the wooden pole to cope with heavier interlined curtains.
