(8)Why use Corded Curtain Rails?
Corded curtain rails and tracks are particularly suited to heavier curtains or light-coloured fabrics as the corded system means that the curtains do not need to be continually handled and soiled over time. Corded curtain tracks are also an ideal solution to dressing extra tall windows or windows on stairways as the cording mechanism is used to open and close the curtains rather than yanking them from the bottom edges which can cause damage to the curtain track and gliders.
How Corded Tracks Work
If the rail is particularly long or the curtains are very heavy then the track will need to be split drawn which means it is corded at both ends of the rail. This takes unnecessary stress off the cording mechanism as each curtain is controlled by its own cording system. Most corded tracks have overlap arms which ensure the curtains meet in the centre without any unsightly gaps allowing light or prying eyes into the room. As the corded system is attached to the overlap arm, the rest of the runners or gliders are free to operate within the same channel.
If the curtain track is made to measure then you can state at the time of ordering your cording side to left hand, right hand, or split cording. Alternatively, a pre-packed curtain track can be re-corded to the left or to the right-hand side.
