Description

The Swish Ultraglyde is an extendable (telescopic) corded metal curtain track set so there is no need for cutting the track down to fit a specific size window.

The Ultraglyde is made from white painted Steel which has been Teflon coated to ensure a smooth gliding action when opening and closing the curtains. The Ultraglyde is supplied as a complete set which includes universal brackets, gliders, fixings, fittings instructions and a cord tensioner which would be fitted either at cill or skirting board level for child safety. The control cord lengths can be adjusted to suit the height of your windows and due to the robust design of the Ultraglide track, it is capable of supporting medium to heavy weight curtains with a weight limit of up to 14 kg (all track lengths).

The Swish Ultraglyde can be wall or top fixed with the control cord located on the right hand side, which can be moved to the left hand side by simply pulling the cord through from the left hand side pulley. The Ultraglyde curtain track is available in extra long lengths of up to 550cm (216 1/2”) and includes a cross over arm to eliminate the gap where the curtains draw to the centre of the track.

Please note – the Ultraglide is suitable for straight run windows only and can not be bent for bay windows.

Disappointed

Coming from what I have always considered a premium brand, I was disappointed to find that my rail had a manufacturing defect as well as two design faults. The fault lay in one of the two intermediate brackets, where the rivet holding the locking clip had not been fitted correctly, meaning that the track could not be secured in place. Tightening the rivet with the aid of a punch and making up a small metal plate to extend the reach of the clip resolved the issue, but clearly this should not have been necessary.

One of the design faults relate to the pull cord, which is so short that with the rail fully extended, the loop does not hang down far enough. The length may be sufficient in modern properties with lower ceilings, but not otherwise. The manufacturers know that if the pole is used without extending, safety will dictate that it will be necessary to shorten the cord, so why not provide sufficient cord to accommodate high ceilings and trust the installer to do the right thing here as well? This is just penny pinching. The second issue relates to the end brackets. The brackets are designed to incorporate the facility for adjustment of the offset from the wall, but, if the rail is installed within the window aperture, access to the adjuster screws is impossible. If it is decided that some adjustment is required after the rail has been installed, it and the brackets must be taken down. Why not make the screws accessible from the other side of the bracket? Simple enough.

We are sorry to hear you’re not entirely happy with your curtain track, regards the fault on the two brackets we’ve never heard of this problem but never the less we would have happily replaced those parts and any part for that matter and this goes for any product we sell.
The cord loop is a set length when the track it extended to its maximum width, this is because the product is a prepacked item and falls under the Child safety Legislation Act (EN13120), if a longer cord drop is required a made to measure track would have to be purchased.
If the track was to be fitted in to a window recess it can be top fixed which does away with adjusting bracket projections, if face fixing brackets are required within a window recess the projection can be altered prior to installation.
