How to Choose the Best Double Curtain Pole

1. Window space assessment: First, ensure you have adequate wall space around your windows for double pole installation. Double curtain poles must be wall-mounted rather than ceiling-fixed, so check for sufficient wall area above and to the sides of your window frame.
2. Bracket projection: Look for systems with adequate spacing between curtain layers—ideally 60-80mm gap for smooth operation. Our double curtain pole sets feature precision-engineered brackets with 118mm and 51mm projections, creating an optimal 67mm separation between front and back poles.
3. Curtain weight: Ensure that your curtains weigh no more than 5kg total for the back pole (sheers/voiles) and 8kg total for the front pole (main curtains) for safe and reliable operation. If your curtains are a different weight, you can create a custom double set.
4. Wall type: Consider your wall construction when selecting fixings—plasterboard, brick, and stone walls each require different anchor types. Our kits include appropriate wall plugs for most UK wall construction types.

Common Installation Mistakes to Avoid

Measurement Errors:
• Incorrect width calculations: Measure the full window width, then add 15–20cm on each side for curtain stack-back. Check our How to Measure for Curtain Poles Guide.
• Height positioning: Hang poles 10–15cm above the window frame to create the illusion of taller windows.
• Depth miscalculation: Our brackets in kits have 118 and 51mm projections from the wall. Account for window sill projection and radiator clearance. If you need a bigger projection, consider create a custom Double Curtain Pole Set.
Installation Problems:
